Helping Farmers in Need
Louisiana Farm Bureau Hay Clearinghouse
The Louisiana Farm Bureau Hay Clearinghouse was founded in March 2016, after a flood in north Louisiana. Cattlemen and horse owners were desperately searching for hay, and Louisiana Farm Bureau stepped in. We developed the Hay Clearinghouse to connect farmers in need with farmers who were able to donate hay. Farmers and ranchers from across the state pitched in to help those in need. The Louisiana Farm Bureau Hay Clearinghouse continued into late 2016 as south Louisiana was flooded by more historic rains.
The Louisiana Farm Bureau Hay Clearinghouse will be activated any time there is a disaster and Louisiana livestock producers are in need.
Farmers Helping Farmers
When flooding devastated north Louisiana in the spring of 2016, the Louisiana Farm Bureau Livestock Committee formed the Hay Clearinghouse. Later that year, the floodwaters hit south Louisiana, impacting the very ranchers who were so quick to send hay up north only a few months earlier.
