Louisiana Land Bank will host a Young Producers Meeting from 9 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Louisiana State Emergency Shelter on the LSU Alexandria campus.

The meeting will provide young producers with information on commodity and livestock markets, marketing strategies, risk management, crop insurance, government programs and agricultural lending.

Michael Deliberto, Ph.D., associate professor with the LSU AgCenter, will provide commodity and livestock outlooks heading into the fall and winter. David Hurley of Hurley Associates will discuss marketing strategies designed to help producers protect margins while maintaining opportunities for market gains.

John Majure, vice president of crop insurance for Louisiana Land Bank Association, will cover current crop insurance issues and how crop insurance and government programs can work together to manage risk. Brian Turner, chief credit officer for Louisiana Land Bank Association, will discuss key factors considered in loan approvals and loan structure.
