The Women’s Leadership Committee is excited to host another Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation WLC Conference open to all volunteer leaders! Join us in Northeast Louisiana for two days of tours, great speakers, and meals to bring together volunteer leaders from across the state of Louisiana.
We will be meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn West Monroe (400 Mane Street, West Monroe, LA 71291; (318) 398-0653). They are off I-20, across the street from Ike Hamilton Expo Center and steps from the West Monroe Sports Facility. Enjoy breakfast and dinner in our Garden Grille & Bar and free Wi-Fi.
On Friday, we will begin with a wine tasting/sample with a stemmed Landry Vineyards wine glass. Landry Vineyards was established in 1999 in Folsom, Louisiana by Jeff, Libby, and their four sons: Ethan, Kohen, Noah, and Micah along with the loving labor of family and friends. Soon after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the Landry’s used the storm opportunity to relocate to north Louisiana where soil, hills and climate are more suitable to growing wine grapes. Then we will enjoy lunch provided by Jac’s Craft Smokehouse which started out as a sauce and seasoning company and has grown over the years into a full-service craft restaurant. Following lunch, we will split up into tour groups to explore the Vineyard, Cellar, Winery, and Tank Room, Crush Pad, and Bottling Facility. Dinner that evening will be at The Hangar in the heart of the ULM scenic campus and adjacent to Warhawk Circle.
We will kick Saturday off with breakfast and an ice breaker followed by our keynote speaker. The Dirt Road Dietician, Sheri Glazier, will be joining us all the way from Oklahoma to discuss “In the Kitchen: Meat Cuts and How to Prepare”, an informative and practical application on various cuts of meat, and appropriate cooking methods to wow your friends and family.
As a service project, we will be collecting items on-site for the Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana. Items to be collected can be new clothing (adult/children’s), diapers, baby wipes.
A tentative agenda is attached, but please be sure to like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/WLCLA/ and check back periodically as we continue to publicize the event.
